In 6-7 centuries before Islam Persians believed in the Zoroastrian religion. The sun was holy, and people prayed for it as a symbol of God. When Islam arrived in the region and prohibited Zoroastrianism, people continued creating a symbol of the sun, but in the form of big flowers in their embroideries for home decor and costumes. Tajiks believed that the sun in houses and in clothes gives to human lives happiness, light, and warmness.
