The fabric is handwoven and made with pure cotton with the historical old techniques of producing fabrics by artisans. Producing Ikat is not only the manufacturing of fabric but also a unique art, as the artist creates beautiful ornaments using thin cotton or silk threads.
Ikat is an international fabric that is famous in India, China, Indonesia, Japan, and Persia. But Tajik-Persian ikat looks different because of the traditional ancient patterns and techniques of woven fabric. These are the most amazing creations of Central Asian Artisans, mainly based on resistor tie-dying the warp or weft threads before the fabric is woven.
Originally, as in embroidery art, artisans tried to tell the stories via patterns. The meaning of some patterns is disclosed, but some of them are not, but used by artisans as a just pattern.
For me, Ikat has a philosophical meaning, and you can make your own stories by looking at the woven patterns. There are mountains, rain, wind, rivers, ocean, birds, animals, love, protection, dreams, life, jewelry, beauty and etc.
Manufacturing of Ikat is still famous in the big historical Tajik Persian cities like Samarqand, Bukhara, Fargana Valley, Karatog –
(East Bukhara), Panjakent, Khujand, Hisor, Khorezm, Margelon, Rishton, Yazd, Nishopur, Hamadan, Hirat, and Mazori Sharif are located in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. In some of these countries where Persian cities were occupied by others, for political purposes, Tajiks are counted as a minority, and their culture was also renamed after the name of the countries where they are living now.
Recommended: dry cleaning or handwashing in cold water using special washing supplies for colorful fabrics. If you wash it by hand, wash it in cold water until your water becomes clean without any colors.
